Data Systems Lead
Are you a technically minded problem-solver with strong database experience? Do you enjoy working with data systems, troubleshooting technical issues and making sure information is accurate, secure and reliable? YeBo Institute, an NPO focused on youth development, is looking for a Data Systems Lead to support the YearBeyond Programme.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and supporting YeBo’s central PostgreSQL data warehouse and connected systems, including Azure infrastructure, Airtable, Teampact, TalentLMS and the reporting layer. The role will oversee system maintenance, data pipelines, integrations, data quality, user access and technical support. The incumbent will work closely with technical consultants during the handover and stabilisation of the system, with the opportunity to grow into leading future enhancements.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering or a related field
At least 4–5 years’ hands-on experience administering and maintaining database management systems in a production environment
Working knowledge of ETL and data pipeline concepts and tools, including Python-based pipelines, scheduled jobs or Azure Functions
Practical experience troubleshooting API integrations and data flows between systems
Experience working with cloud-hosted infrastructure, preferably Azure
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate error logs, data validation failures and pipeline exceptions
Recommended:
Experience in data engineering or systems support beyond core database administration
Experience with Metabase, Power BI or similar BI and reporting tools
Familiarity with POPIA and data governance requirements
Experience with Airtable, Teampact, TalentLMS or similar SaaS-based operational systems
Experience supporting a system through its early operational life and post-build stabilisation
Experience in a non-profit, education or youth-development environment
