Healthy Pathfinder
About the programme
The YearBeyond Healthy Pathfinders Programme places unemployed youth in health institutions in the Western Cape. The programme supports healthcare facilities by strengthening patient support, improving access to services, and helping clinics become more welcoming, efficient, and people-centred spaces for the communities they serve.
What do YeBoneers do?
As a Healthy Pathfinder, you work alongside healthcare workers and clinic staff. Your role is supportive rather than clinical, but it is meaningful and skilled.
You may be asked to assist with:
Patient support and navigation: Welcoming patients, helping them understand processes, guiding them to the correct service points, and supporting smooth patient flow.
Health promotion and education: Supporting awareness campaigns, sharing basic health information, and encouraging healthy behaviours within the clinic and community.
Administrative and operational support: Assisting staff with non-clinical tasks that help clinics run efficiently.
Community outreach and wellness activities: Supporting initiatives that promote preventative care and community wellbeing.
Creating positive patient experiences: Helping ensure clinic spaces feel organised, respectful, and responsive to patient needs.
