Components of YeBo

Programme Overview:

YearBeyond is an opportunity for youth to develop their potential and skills through service and training.

The Programme has three core components:

1. Serve | A meaningful work experience
By providing much-needed services to vulnerable communities, YeBoneers gain meaningful work experience that develops their skills, improves their work readiness, and opens career pathways.
2. Enable | Personal and professional development
YeBoneers are supported and guided in their YearBeyond journey by a Mentor. This support and guidance focus on the meaningful work experience, a specially designed personal and professional training and coaching programme, and access to a wellbeing eco-system of support.
3. Connect | Pathway support
YeBoneers are supported in building their social and economic networks and using their agency to unlock their next opportunity into further studies and/or work.

Each YeBoneer is allocated a Programme Mentor who will journey with them throughout their year of service. The Programme Mentor will also be responsible for developing your personal and professional skills. They will offer YeBoneers the necessary psychosocial, study and career progression support.

Serve | Meaningful Work Experience

YeBoneers gain meaningful work experience by serving their community. Through their service, they tackle challenges that communities face in education, social cohesion, or wellbeing. The specific focus of YeBoneers' service depends on the programme they sign up for.

Regardless of which programme they are on, YeBoneers develop generic and role-specific skills, get used to the rhythms and demands of the world of work, and expand their career pathway options.

More than 70% of YeBoneers remain active in their communities after the Programme, and more than 40% pursue a career in the social sector.

Enable | Personal and Professional Development

YearBeyond fast-tracks YeBoneers’ personal and professional development. This happens through the Programme’s youth development curriculum.
The core components of this curriculum are:
**Mentorship**
YeBoneers are guided through the YearBeyond journey by a Mentor who provides targeted training and coaching support.
**Future Fit Programme**
The Future Fit Programme is a specially designed training programme that focuses on developing YeBoneers’ knowledge and skills in targeted areas under the broad themes of professionalism, emotional intelligence, and agency. It is delivered in weekly sessions that happen throughout the YearBeyond journey.
**Activations**
Activations are opportunities for YeBoneers to raise awareness about and tackle specific challenges their communities face.

Connect | Pathway Support

YearBeyond is designed as a bridge to economic activity. The Programme supports YeBoneers in finding their next opportunity.

This is achieved by:

Supporting YeBoneers to discover their passions, strengths, and, weaknesses and use this to identify career paths.
Supporting YeBoneers who want to transition to work to develop a standout CV and cover letter for opportunities they apply for and get interview experience.
Supporting YeBoneers who want to pursue entrepreneurship to crowd in the support they need to succeed.
Providing YeBoneers with opportunities to network with various stakeholders, including work, entrepreneurship, and study opportunity providers.
Giving YeBoneers who complete the Programme a certificate of service, a competency report, and a personalised reference letter.
Connecting YeBoneers who complete the Programme to the YearBeyond Alumni Network – a community of YeBoneer Alumni who attend learning and networking events and receive communication about work, entrepreneurship, and study opportunities.

More than 75% of YeBoneers transition to a next opportunity within three months of exiting the Programme.
