Planet Youth

About the programme

What is the Planet Youth Programme?

The YearBeyond Planet Youth Programme works with low- and no-fee public schools to tackle substance abuse among Grade 8-9 learners. Leveraging the Icelandic Model for Preventing Adolescent Substance Use, the programme strengthens protective factors, reduces risk factors, and builds healthy and resilient community environments.

What do YeBoneers do?

YeBoneers on the YearBeyond Planet Youth Programme serve as Planet Youth researchers, After School facilitators, wellbeing champions, and lay counsellors. During the school day, they provide individuals and groups with wellbeing, counselling, life skills, and psychosocial support. They also administer surveys. After the formal school day, they facilitate After School programme activities.
